The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in a deadly hit-and-run.
Shawn Paul Schech, 32, of Hammond, was riding his bike on Old Covington Highway when he was hit and killed by a car.
According to the sheriff’s office, the driver involved in the crash, Warren Seither, 33, of Hammond, turned himself in.
During Seither’s arrest, his dark-purple Toyota Avalon was found with extreme damage, including a busted windshield and half of the front, driver’s side bumper and grill missing.
According to deputies, just after midnight on March 9, they responded to a crash on Old Covington Highway in Hammond after a bicyclist was hit by a car that did not stop.
The car was traveling eastbound in the same direction as Schech was traveling on his bike.
