A major update was provided on the progress for redeveloping Lincoln Beach.
City leaders said the redevelopment project in New Orleans East is over halfway through the design phase.
The historic Lincoln Beach site has been closed for decades, but city leaders say progress is being made to bring the space back to life.
During a recent city council meeting, leaders said the design phase of the redevelopment project is now about 60% complete.
Consultants and contractors were brought on late last year to help move the project forward. Officials say the work has been divided into three separate construction packages to help streamline permitting and procurement.
City leaders say they expect construction bidding to begin later this year, while the design phase should be completed by the end of the year.
Officials also say they plan to continue meeting with the community, with another public meeting expected in June.
