The St. James Parish Emergency Operations Center is working a hazmat situation on Highway 3125 near the Veterans Memorial Bridge, Tuesday afternoon.
According to emergency management officials, a truck leaked an unknown chemical on the highway.
The substance is being investigated, but there are no anticipated impacts to the public, according to a statement issued by the emergency operations center.
Both lanes are closed between Highway 3213 and 3125 and the Veterans Memorial Bridge. Drivers should use Highway 44 as an alternate route to cross the Mississippi River.
