One of the best defensive players in New Orleans Saints history is bolting the Big Easy vioa free agency and headed to the Big Apple.
Fan-favorite linebacker Demario Davis is signing a new contract with the New York Jets on a 2-year deal valued at $22 million with $15 million fully guaranteed.
Davis joined the Saints as a free agent in 2018 and is one of the best free agent additions on franchise history along with Drew Brees and Joe Horn.
A leader on and off the field Davis and his wife were very active in the New Orleans community and in 2025 he was the Saints winner of the 2025 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award, which celebrated players doing significant work in their communities.
The Saints added punter Ryan Wright in free agency.
A former Tulane standout, Wright was one of the best punters in the NFC in 2025 and the Saints have a major need at the position as they have ranked near the bottom of the league in punting since letting veteran Thomas Morstead go prior to the 2021 season.
