Applications are now open for the City of New Orleans Civic Leadership Academy’s Spring 2026 class.
The Mayor’s Community Engagement Office said the free program runs for eight weeks. It gives residents a closer look at how city government works.
Classes will meet on Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at City Hall. The sessions include tours, hands-on demonstrations and presentations by city staff.
City leaders say the academy helps residents learn how services work and how decisions get made. Organizers say graduates can use that knowledge to support neighborhood projects and improve quality of life.
To qualify, applicants must live in New Orleans, be at least 18 years old and be active in a neighborhood or business association. Applicants must provide proof of residency.
The application deadline is 5 p.m. Monday, March 2, 2026. The city may close applications earlier if the class fills. If that happens, additional applicants will be placed on a waiting list.
The Spring 2026 session runs from March 26 to May 14.
