A Slidell inmate was found dead in his jail cell Sunday morning, according to Slidell police.
According to Slidell police, Douglas Koch, 65, was found unresponsive inside his jail cell.
Preliminary information indicated that Koch had suffered a medical emergency while he was sleeping.
Koch was arrested two days prior for a second-offense DWI and was housed alone in his cell at the time of his death.
A full investigation is underway, but Slidell police said based on current information, all indications suggest Koch died of natural causes.
An autopsy is being performed to determine and classify the cause and manner of death.
Foul play is not suspected.
