A Slidell resident has been arrested following an investigation into illegal drug activity.
Wilfred James Deas, 51, of Slidell was arrested on Wednesday after an investigation was conducted into a suspected drug dealer residing in the 5900 block of North Preachers Oak Lane.
According to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, Deas has a lengthy criminal history dating back to 1993 that includes convictions related to violent felonies, narcotics, and weapons offenses.
A search warrant of Deas’ house led to the discovery and seizure of 53 grams of marijuana, 35 grams of crack cocaine, 1 gram of powder cocaine, 11 unlawfully possessed suboxone stripes and 53 counterfeit pills containing fentanyl designed to resemble 30 mg oxycodone.
They also found a stolen Smith & Wesson semi-automatic handgun, a digital scale used to weigh illegal narcotics and an assortment of baggies used for street-level drug distribution.
Deas is being charged with possession of a schedule I CDS with intent to distribute (marijuana), possession of a schedule II CDS with intent to distribute (cocaine), possession of a Schedule III CDS with intent to distribute (suboxone), possession of a firearm in the presence of an unlawfully possessed CDS, possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain felonies and illegal possession of a stolen firearm.
