TROPICAL STORM JERRY:
Tropical Storm Jerry has formed far out in the Atlantic Ocean. What was once Invest 95L is now a named storm with winds near 50 mph. Jerry is moving quickly WNW at 23 mph and could get stronger over the next several days.
Jerry could become a hurricane by Thursday as it moves toward the northern Leeward Islands, where a Tropical Storm Watch is in effect.
By this weekend, Jerry will be heading north and out to sea while passing east of Bermuda.
IMPACTS:
- Wind: Tropical storm conditions are possible in portions of the northern Leeward Islands late Thursday and Friday.
- Rainfall: On Thursday, 2 to 4 inches of rain are expected across the Leeward Islands due to Jerry. This rainfall brings a risk of flash flooding, especially in areas of higher terrain.
- No impacts expected for the U.S. at this time.
