Kyren Lacy’s lawyer Matthew Ory, is responding after State Police released never-before-seen video of the crash involving his client.
He tells WDSU Travers Mackel in an exclusive interview that he welcomes further investigation into this matter.
“Absolutely, as long as I believe, which I have no reason not to, I have no reason to believe the AG won’t launch their own investigation. There’s only more to be told, that’s what I’m telling you. I believe we find out more,” said Ory.
The interview comes hours after the Louisiana State Police released video of the deadly crash.
In January, Lacy, who was a star football player at Louisiana State University, was charged with negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run, and reckless operation of a vehicle in connection to a deadly crash on Highway 20 in Lafourche Parish in December of last year.
Lacy died by suicide in April.
Ory reiterated to WDSU what he first told HTV Houma last week, that he believes and shared new evidence he believes exonerates Lacy of causing the crash.
LSP posted an 11-minute video to YouTube on Tuesday detailing the evidence they gathered at the scene.

Since Ory’s public comments, the reaction has been swift. The Louisiana chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, or NAACP, has called for an outside review of the investigation by state police.
On Monday, Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill issued a statement saying she has been in touch with LSP about “independently reviewing all the witness statements and evidence in this case.”
Attorney General Liz Murrill issued a statement after State Police released new evidence in the crash:
“The evidence is not disputed here. The Lafourche Parish District Attorney’s Office was prepared to present the case to a grand jury that showed Kyren Lacy returning to his lane. However, that does not absolve Kyren Lacy of responsibility in this matter. Every witness identified the green charger Kyren Lacy was determined to be driving, as having put the events in motion that led to the head-on collision, which killed 78-year-old veteran Herman Hall. The District Attorney appropriately was bringing the matter to a grand jury, so that the grand jury could review the facts and decide the appropriate charges to indict on, if any. I’m continuing to review the entire file from State Police and will release a more detailed statement at the conclusion of that review.”
In a written press release, LSP said in part:
“This incident resulted in numerous injuries and loss of life. All those involved and their loved ones deserve a comprehensive investigation based on all available evidence. The Louisiana State Police is committed to providing a thorough and objective investigation grounded in science and supported by facts. LSP relied on proven methods from forensic analysis, crash reconstructions, and comprehensive evidence review to uncover the full truth.
“While we recognize that external narratives may arise, often based on selective information, we urge the public to rely on the full body of facts.”
