A longtime Northshore district attorney announced that he will be retiring.
District Attorney Scott Perrilloux announced his retirement on social media Tuesday night.
He announced he would not seek reelection in the Fall of 2026.
Perrilloux, who was first elected in 1996, is serving his 5th term as District Attorney for the Twenty-First Judicial District, which is made up of Livingston, St. Helena, and Tangipahoa Parishes.
He will finish the current term, which ends on the second Sunday of 2027.
“It has been an honor and privilege to serve those who live in the district and others who have needed the services of the District Attorney’s office,” Perrilloux said in a statement.
A candidate has already thrown their hat into the ring for the position.
Assistant District Attorney Brad Cascio launched his campaign Wednesday following Perrilloux’s announcement.
The election for the district attorney will be held in the fall of 2026
