New Orleans Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado was injured in Puerto Rico’s game against Argentina in the FIBA AmeriCup.
Alvarado took a hard fall in overtime of Puerto Rico’s 82-77 loss to Argentina.
Alvarado was carried off the court on a stretcher.
One report says it’s an apparent lower back injury and neck contusion.
It’s certainly the last thing the Pelicans and their fan base want to see right now.
Trey Murphy, Herb Jones and Dejounte Murray all suffered season-ending injuries last season.
The Pelicans start training camp in one month with their first preseason game on Oct. 3 in Melbourne Australia.
The Pelicans tip off the regular season in Memphis against the Grizzlies on Oct. 22.
