The entire Cross Gates Water System is under a precautionary boil water advisory.
According to a notice issued by St. Tammany Parish officials, on Tuesday the system experienced a drop in chlorine residual after an electrical issue with the disinfection system.
The chlorine residuals were restored; however, the entire system was placed under a precautionary boil water advisory.
The advisory will remain in effect until the Louisiana Department of Health tests water samples.
Residents should boil their water for a full minute before consuming it or using it.
