The search for a missing nonverbal 12-year-old boy has entered its fourth day.
On Monday, bloodhounds from Angola were assigned to the search, which is now being handled by the New Orleans Police Department Special Victims Division.
Police say Bryan Vasquez was discovered missing from his home on Beaucaire Street on Thursday morning.
Louisiana State Police issued a Level II endangered/missing child advisory on Friday, Aug. 15, launching a search for the boy.
Police said that while the number of active field resources will be scaled down, officers will continue neighborhood canvassing and follow up on investigative leads.
Residents in the area of Chef Menteur Highway to Dwyer Road to Michoud Boulevard to Interstate 510 are asked to check their backyards, under raised homes and buildings, etc., in case Vasquez is out of sight in a similar location.
Police are also asking residents to check their security cameras, including Ring systems, and review footage from the morning of Aug. 14.
State police say he has a neurodevelopmental condition, is nonverbal and does not understand English or Spanish. He was last seen wearing an adult diaper and is believed to be walking in an unknown direction.
Vasquez has brown eyes and black hair. He is 5 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs between 86 and 100 pounds.
Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or 504-821-2222.
