A beloved local teacher is celebrating a major milestone. Educator Syvia Crier of McDonogh 35 is marking her 85th birthday and reflecting on an incredible 61 years in the classroom.
Students, colleagues and community members are invited to honor her dedication and impact on generations of leaders.
In addition to teaching at McDonogh 35, Crier has also taught at Warren Easton.
The celebration includes a morning breakfast followed by lunch and an official birthday celebration, and will give everyone a chance to share memories of Crier. Crier is also celebrating being recently cancer-free.
Monday breakfast will start at 7:15 a.m. The official celebration for Crier begins at 3:30 p.m. at McDonogh 35.
