A Slidell woman has been arrested for allegedly purchasing a Lamborghini and plastic surgery while on government assistance.
Agents with the Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Louisiana Bureau of Investigation arrested Candace Taylor, 35, of Rousset Ridge in Slidell on Monday.
Agents said they received a complaint from the Louisiana Department of Health regarding Taylor allegedly committing Medicaid Recipient Fraud.
According to the complaint, Taylor underreported her income in order to receive Medicaid benefits.
Arrest records between 2020 and 2024 showed that Taylor engaged in a series of actions to apply for and receive Medicaid benefits through misrepresentation, concealment and non-disclosure of required information.
In May 2019, Taylor applied under the alias “Candace Sailor” and reported her income as $1,900 bi-weekly and claimed no dependents. Her application was denied due to exceeding the income threshold.
According to arrest records, less than one year later, on March 23, 2020, she re-applied using the same misspelled name. Taylor was inconsistent with the years she reported having a dependent.
The affidavit states that between January 2020 and December 2024, multiple of Taylor’s businesses collectively generated over $9.5 million in revenue across various accounts controlled by her.
In 2020, despite being approved for Medicaid and claiming to possess no income, records showed Taylor’s account recorded deposits of more than $480,000 more than $45,000 in car payments to Audi Finance.
Multiple 6-figure withdrawals via cashier’s checks to fund property purchases, cosmetic surgery, high-end jewelry and luxury services were recorded.
Records also showed in 2024, two months after the Lamborghini was purchased, Taylor contacted the LDH to renew her Medicaid benefits, alleging the income of $2,000 per month.
Arrest records show that agents saw several social media posts made by Taylor on Facebook and Instagram highlighting her luxury acquisitions.
Taylor is being charged with government benefits fraud.
This is an ongoing investigation.
