“Consider turning yourself in, coming in and working things out so it’s all done in a safe way.”
Crimestoppers GNO leaders are asking 30-year-old Khalil Bryan to turn himself in, after OPSO says he was mistakenly released from the Orleans Justice Center.
Although Crimestoppers has not received any tips on Bryan yet, they are hopeful the public will help.
“Now that Mr. Bryan’s face is out in the media, I think people are going to be seeing areas he may be frequenting,” said
The sheriff’s office said Bryan was confused with another inmate who had a similar last name and deputies made an error and accidentally released him.
It comes 10 weeks after 10 inmates escaped from jail. Derrick Groves is still on the run.
Crimestoppers says tips led to the arrest of several of those escaped inmates.
“We received thousands of tips. We received what we probably receive in a typical six-month period in two months, so that meant for us that we had thousands of leads to send to law enforcement,” said
As NOPD and state police continue to search for Bryan, they also hope he turns himself in.
“It’s a terrible mistake for everybody. I’m sure it’s a very awkward situation for him and his family, so we hope everyone can give information that’s needed and he come back in and work things out,” said
