A Houma man has been arrested after allegedly attacking two people with a hammer.
Deputies arrested Brian Joseph Guillotte, 49, of Houma on felony charges in connection with the investigation.
Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Schriever on July 22 around 9 p.m., after they received reports of a man armed with a hammer attacking residents of the home.
When deputies arrived, they found neighbors holding a man at gunpoint in the home.
During their investigation, they found two men at the scene with obvious signs of injury.
According to deputies, they learned that Guillotte entered the home armed with a hammer and attacked an older man, who suffered serious bodily injury.
The second victim was found to be suffering from injuries and confirmed the attack by Guillotte.
Deputies said neighbors heard the disturbance and came to the aid of both victims and held Guillotte at gunpoint until deputies arrived.
Both victims were taken to a local hospital due to the severity of their injuries.
The older man remains in serious condition but is stable. The second victim received treatment for moderate injuries sustained during the attack and was later released.
The victims’ identities are not being released due to the nature of the investigation.
Guillotte is being charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder and home invasion and is being held without bond.
