A former Edna Karr football player was killed Saturday night during a shooting in Memphis, Tennessee.
According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Corey Adams, 18, was killed around 10:14 p.m. Saturday night at a residence on Fern Glade Cove in Cordova.
Deputies said they stopped a car at the intersection of Forest Hill-Irene and Walnut Grove and found a man, later identified as Adams, with gunshot wounds inside the car.
They provided life-saving measures, but Adams was pronounced dead on the scene.
Deputies also discovered that four men arrived at a hospital with gunshot wounds. All four victims are listed in non-critical condition.
Adams was committed to Ole Miss and was months away from starting his freshman season.

“This is a post we never want to have to make and words can’t describe this type of pain. We are heartbroken and tormented to pieces Co4.
Corey Adams was more than a football player! He was a friend, brother, son, student, and all around great young man. We never question God but this is one we just don’t understand. This wasn’t supposed to be the end of his story.”
Ole Miss Football has issued a statement on Adams passing:
“We are devastated to learn that Corey Adams, a freshman on the team, passed away last night in Cordova, Tennessee. While out program is trying to cope with this tragic loss, out thoughts are with his love ones during this incredibly difficult time.
Out of respect for his family, we will not be commenting further at this time. We ask the Ole Miss community to keep Corey in their thoughts and respect the privacy of everyone involved.”
Shelby County Sheriff’s Office held a news conference on Monday about the deadly shooting:
