New Orleans police are investigating two carjackings of rideshare drivers in New Orleans East.
The first carjacking happened on July 16 around 9 p.m. in the 5200 block of Michoud Boulevard.
According to police, the suspect ordered a rideshare to the locations.
When the driver arrived, the suspect demanded the victim’s car and the victim complied.
The suspect left the scene inside the victim’s car down Michoud towards Chef Menteur Highway then in an unknown direction.
The second carjacking happened in the 13000 block of Sevres St. on July 17 around 9:55 p.m.
Police said the rideshare driver was picking someone up from the location.
The suspect emerged from the bushes with a firearm and demanded the car.
The victim complied and the suspect attempted to start the car but was unable to and fled on foot.
These are both ongoing investigations.
