Three people accused in a carjacking case involving the Orleans Parish District Attorney and his mother have changed their pleas.
District Attorney Jason Williams and his mother were carjacked in the 1000 block of Race Street in October 2023.
Santana Gilmore, Dijohn Curtis, and Amajha Curtis were in court Friday, where they changed their pleas to guilty of armed robbery.
All three will face a sentence of 16 years with no probation. Their sentencing date was set for October.
Ahmad Seals was also in court but did not take a plea deal. His trial was set for Oct. 27.
A fourth suspect, Raymond Rochon,19, pleaded guilty in March 2024.
WDSU has reached out to the district attorney’s office for a statement regarding the plea change. At the time of this publication, a response had not been received.
Attorney General Liz Murrill issued the following statement:
“I’d like to extend my gratitude and appreciation to the New Orleans Police Department and Louisiana State Police for their diligent work on this case. I truly believe we are seeing a turn in the tide when it comes to crime because of this partnership,” said Murrill.
