The New Orleans Fire Department says 135 people were safely evacuated from a New Orleans high-rise after a fire sparked early Thursday morning.
The fire department says they were called to the 14-story building on Gravier Street around 12:30 a.m. Thursday.
The department says the fire ignited on the seventh floor, where food was left unattended on the kitchen stove.
The building’s automatic sprinkler system activated and put the fire out before it could spread, but the water damaged multiple floors in the building.
The New Orleans Fire Department says there were no injuries, and the building was turned over to property management and restoration teams.
