Neighbors say there was a large police presence on Agriculture Street, as SWAT teams had weapons drawn during a raid, searching for escaped inmate, Antoine Massey, who’s been on the run for nearly three weeks.
“I immediately ran to my front door, I looked out and saw lots of cops, detectives with huge guns,” said one neighbor.
Neighbors were shocked to see police with weapons drawn right outside of her home Monday evening.
WDSU obtained video of the moments SWAT teams surrounded a home in the Fairgrounds area.
The home that was raided is where investigators believe Massey recorded a viral video.
Family members tipped off police about a location on Agriculture Street.
Around 10 p.m. Monday, neighbors say police raided the home.
“I heard when they broke the door, and I could hear it from my backroom in my house, so they were very loud,” said one neighbor.
Massey was not inside, but according to sources, police recovered the clothes he wore when he recorded the videos.
“It’s a bit shocking because I’ve been wiring this house for the past two weeks,” said Tariq Aldahir.
The search for Massey also prompted police to break inside a vacant home right next door, according to an electrician who has been working on the house for two weeks.
“When I came this morning, I saw the door kicked open and I called the house owner and he was trying to search around,” said Aldahir.
All this while family members beg Massey to turn himself in.
“Now listen to mama, do this for me. If you do nothing else, turn yourself in,” said Chiquita Massey, mother of Antoine Massey.
