Louisiana State Police are investigating a deadly crash in Abita Springs that happened Monday night.
According to police, around 9:40 p.m., Madison Boone, 20, of Mandeville was driving westbound on LA Hwy 36. At the same time, a Hyundai was traveling eastbound on LA Hwy 36.
For reasons still under investigation, the Hyundai crossed the centerline and hit Boone’s car head-on in the westbound lane.
Boone sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where she later died.
The driver of the Hyundai was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries. They were also issued a citation for driving on the right side of the road.
The crash is currently under investigation.
