Memorial Day is a day to honor the brave men and women who served in the United States Armed Forces.
Many places across the city are celebrating Memorial Day and the start of summer. Here is a list of things you can do this Memorial Day:
National World War II Museum
The National World War II Museum is a great place for people to learn the history and experience the American Spirit, courage, teamwork and sacrifice of the people who won the war.
The museum includes the Louisiana Memorial Pavilion, Victory Solomon Theater Pavilion, Liberation Pavilion, the U.S. Freedom Pavilion and more.
The National WWII Museum will be open this weekend from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
On Monday, they will host a Memorial Day Commemoration, which will feature remarks from Rebecca Christy, whose father and son both died while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.
A performance by the Victory Belles and the American Legion Post 377 band.
The event is free and open to the public and starts at 11 a.m.

Expression of America
The Expressions of America is another attraction at the National WWII Museum that you could and teaches you the history in a different way.
This is an immersive, outdoor sound and light show to tell the real stories of everyday people who made an impact during a time of conflict.
Tickets for the show range from $20 to $79 and will include pre-show live entertainment, access to a custom exhibit and the outdoor sound and light show.

Chalmette Battlefield
Volunteers will place American flags at the foot of tombstones located at Chalmette Battlefield and National Cemetery.
It is a decades-long tradition designed to honor the nearly 16,000 service members and loved ones buried on the grounds.
The battlefield and cemetery are open daily from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. except for Memorial Day, when gates close at 4 p.m.
Park rangers are looking for additional volunteers to help respectfully remove the flags after the holiday. Those efforts will begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

The 50th Annual Greek Festival
The 50th Annual Greek Festival is celebrating its golden celebration starting Friday, May 23 at the Hellenic Cultural Center.
General admission tickets are $10 for one day, and weekend passes are $25. Click here to purchase ticket.
