Jazzfest postponed for second year in a row due to COVID-19.

For the second year in a row, Jazzfest has been postponed due to COVID-19.
Ticketholders should be getting an email soon about the ticket refund and rollover process.

WE KNOW, we know! But before you get flustered, think of the bigger picture.
This COVID-19 Delta variant is REALLY halting the progress we were making. This thing is contagious.

“New data began to emerge that the Delta variant was more infectious and was leading to increased transmissibility when compared to other variants, even in vaccinated individuals.” source: https://www.cdc.gov

Look, it’s a known thing that when it comes to festivals, NOLA knows how to throw down. The postponement of Jazzfest is unfortunately a smart move due to how fast Louisiana is moving in the wrong direction while trying to curve the spread of Covid-19.

If you’ve ever been to a Jazzfest, you’ll know that the 100k people at Lollapalooza was a lot, but nowhere near what Jazzfest usually pulls.
The last time the festival was able to happen was in 2019.

“The attendance for 2019 wasn’t much different from 2018, which saw crowds of approximately 450,000 fans — about 25,000 more than 2017. The 2018 festival only had seven days.” source: https://www.nola.com

So, yeah. Lots of people.
It also doesn’t help that all eyes are on Louisiana, which leads the country in new Covid-19 cases.

We don’t know one single person that’s excited about what’s happening. It sucks. People are losing their lives and the things we’ve been looking forward to are being canceled left and right.
Right now let’s close our eyes and take a deeeep breath. Do it, close your eyes and take a deeeep breath. See? It helps. The best thing we can do right now is have patience and do the right thing when it comes to the pandemic. Whatever “the right thing” means to you, do that.

Just know that it could always be worse. Always.
