THE HELLA MEGA TOUR RETURNS (Or finally happens?)

You know what we’re gonna say… it took a HELLA MEGA long time to happen, but the twice postponed tour featuring The Interrupters, Weezer, Fall Out Boy, and Green Day finally made its debut this past Saturday (July 24th).

The highly anticipated tour (that skips over Louisiana *mad face*) finally kicked off in Arlington, Texas, in front of a sold-out crowd of around 35,000 people. That’s a lot of people.
It featured the bands giving the fans what they wanted over nearly six hours, serving up a plethora of hits in front of one of the largest concert crowds in the U.S. in more than 17 months. That’s a looong time without live music.

“Take a look around you,” Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong said to the mostly unmasked crowd at Globe Life Stadium, according to Rolling Stone. “This is human contact. We cannot be locked up anymore. We need to be together.”

This tour features one of the most popular amongst modern punk bands, The Interrupters, as its opening band. Did they cover “Bad Guy” by Billie Eilish? Yep.
Weezer went on 2nd and played fan favorites like “Undone — The Sweater Song,” “Island in the Sun,” “El Scorcho,” “Hash Pipe,” “Beverly Hills,” and of course the band’s version of “Africa” by Toto amongst many others.
Fall Out Boy then took over with a fire (both literally and figureatively. Seriously, they had TONS of pyro) set that featured favorites “Centuries,” “Save Rock and Roll,” “Uma Thurman,” “Dance, Dance,” “Sugar, We’re Goin’ Down,” and “This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms Race.”

Then for the headliners!
As the sun was going down and people’s knees started to hurt from all the ROCK, Green Day took to the stage. First up! “American Idiot” that then progressed to 21 other songs. Yes. Twenty one Green Day songs. Songs like “Welcome to Paradise,” “21 Guns,” “Minority,” “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life),” “Brain Stew,” got the crowd moving in an organized, continuous moshpit. Oh yeah! They also covered KISS’ “Rock and Roll All Nite” which caught the attention of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band.
