The expansion of three New Orleans biotech start-ups is expected to bring 135 high-paying new jobs to the area. City leaders joined the New Orleans Business Alliance, and Louisiana Economic Development to make the announcement Wednesday.
The New Orleans Business Alliance released the following information about the companies and their job-creation plans:
- – AxoSim, a company creating biomimetic neuroscience discovery platforms including the company’s proprietary Nerve-on-a-Chip and Mini-Brain technologies, will expand its BioDistrict facility, creating an estimated 75 new jobs in the coming years with an estimated average annual salary of about $60,000.
- – Cadex Genomics announced it will open a high complexity, molecular diagnostics laboratory at the University of New Orleans Advanced Materials Research Institute. Cadex will create 50 new jobs ranging in salary from $70,000 to $130,000.
- – Obatala Sciences also will move to the Advanced Materials Research Institute and expand by up to 10 new jobs, averaging salaries in the mid $80,000 range.
